Costume Designers

This year’s costume designers for Dancing with The Arc include staff from Community Arts Connections and fashion designers from Rochester. Deanna Massett (left) is our Visual Arts Coordinator at Community Arts Connection. Skyla Pisciotti is our Creative Arts Coordinator at Community Arts Connection. Josean and Mikey Vargas-Rodriguez (right) are fashion designers who own a shop called Luci & Dona on Monroe Avenue in Rochester.  We look forward to seeing what they have created for our dancing duos!

About Deanna Massett
Deanna Massett is our Visual Arts Coordinator at The Arc’s Community Arts Connection. Deanna has been making art and singing her entire life – getting her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and her Master’s in Art Education. She even went to school for art therapy for a while before returning to teaching. Outside of work, Deanna continues to pursue art – creating oil painting pieces and collage work. Deanna and her husband do everything together, whether that involves a dollar tag Sunday at Goodwill, playing Rummy and puzzle video games, watching the antics of their 5 cats and little dog, building Lego sets, or singing karaoke. Deanna’s theme song would be “Rebel Girl” by Bikini Kill as dubbed by her best friend. She loves Dancing with The Arc because of how happy it makes everyone involved, whether Arc employee, performer, or spectator.

About Skyla Pisciotti
Skyla Pisciotti is our Fiber Arts Coordinator at The Arc’s Community Arts Connection, where she has worked for 4 years. Skyla has been drawing and crafting ever since she could hold a pencil. She studied Fine Arts at Alfred University where she fell in love with printmaking, painting, and mixed media. Skyla later became an artist-in-residence at Flower City Arts Center where she taught printmaking classes – and continues to do so on occasion. Beyond the art, Skyla has a small business venture with a friend where they flip vintage and antique goods to sell at markets, online, and at pop-up events. She also enjoys boxing, wine nights, and drawing in a sketchbook at a café. If Skyla were to choose theme music, she would select “Paint It Black” by the Rolling Stones. Skyla believes there is so much good that comes from Dancing with The Arc. It not only reminds people that everyone can be a star, but it also showcases disability in our community and raises a fist for the movement. She loves seeing the pure and radiant joy from the crowd and is honored to be a part of it.

About Josean and Mikey Vargas-Rodriguez
Josean and Mikey are designers who own a shop called Luci & Dona on Monroe Avenue in Rochester. Josean has been inspired by fashion since age 16 where he taught himself sewing and designed dresses for beauty pageants. He studied Elementary Education and took a fashion course before launching “J.Vargas” in 2012, initially selling accessories with bow ties. Josean was recognized as one of Advocate magazine’s “40 under 40” in 2013. Then in 2017, the business shifted focus to designing for drag performers, rebranding as Luci & Dona in 2018 – named after both Josean’s and Mikey’s drag personas, Lucida Brite and Donatella Mirage. Mikey received his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and has worked as a designer for the Democrat & Chronicle, Gannett, and currently USA Today.
