Aging With Grace, Aging In Place

At The Arc of Monroe, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live safely, independently, and comfortably in their own home and community — regardless of age, income, or ability. Isn’t that what we all want for ourselves and the people we love?

We are embarking on the next step of this journey: raising $1 million to rebuild our current home at 130 Homewood Lane into an eight-bedroom, single-story, fully accessible home. While the current house presents accessibility challenges, its transformation will be life-changing for its residents. This new home will ensure they can age gracefully in place, surrounded by familiar faces and supported with the care they need.

As people with IDD live longer, healthier lives, the importance of fully accessible homes becomes even greater. To meet this growing need, we launched the “Aging With Grace, Aging In Place” initiative, a mission to transform our residential houses into single-story, fully accessible homes. In 2021, we successfully raised $1.3 million to build two state of-the-art, seven-bedroom homes on Long Pond Road, which will soon open their doors to provide safety, comfort, and dignity to fourteen residents.
